united-kingdom-over13Oswaldo Lorenzo Ochoa Professor, Author, and Consultant – Digital Strategy, Operations, and Information Systems. Professor of Operations and Information Systems in Deusto Business School. He was previously professor at IE Business School. He is specialized in three areas of knowledge and management: innovation, supply chain management, and information technology & business process management. His research interests lie in the implementation, assimilation and diffusion of enterprise systems for the purpose of improving processes and supply chains. In his own words: “First, we have to identify the key business processes of each firm based on the company’s strategy, and, from there, introduce improvements that enable it to achieve its objectives. These improvements might include information technology such as enterprise systems.” Professor Lorenzo feels technology serves as an enabler to improve business process management. He does, however, underscore the fact that many business failures are due to the fact that technology was seen as an end in itself, rather than a means. “Companies should first analyze what it is they need, and then implement the right kind of technology, because technology may not be the best solution in some situations”.

Professor Lorenzo’s extensive experience in this field has led organizations in different sectors (e.g. automobile, banking, government, and energy) to contract his consulting services. He has been visiting professor at Manchester Business School (UK),IESA Business School (Venezuela), INCAE (Costa Rica) and Bordeaux School of Management (France). Part of his experience comes from his work on publications for specialized journals like California Management Review, Journal of Business Ethics, Supply Chain Management Review, Communications of the Association for Information Systems, International Journal of Simulation and Process Modeling, Revista de Empresa, and Revista Latinoamericana de Administración. Moreover, Professor Lorenzo has presented numerous research works at international conferences such as The Academy of Management Meeting, American Conference in Information Systems (AMCIS), European Conference in Information Systems (ECIS), European Conference in Operations Management (EUROMA), Production and Operations Management Society (POMS), among others. He is a member of AIS (Association for Information Systems), Euroma (European Association for Operations Management) and BALAS (Business Association for Latin American Studies).

He received his PhD from Warwick Business School (UK), his MBA from IESA Business School (Venezuela), and BSc in Industrial Engineering from Universidad de Carabobo (Venezuela). Also, he has attended the Colloquium on Participant-centered Learning, Harvard Business School, Boston (USA), and Research Programme at University of Texas(USA).
